Push-and-Pull Nanotherapeutics for Osteoarthritis with Drug Delivery and Dual Scavenging of Reactive Oxygen Species and Cell-Free DNA

In article, Singh and co-workers present a cationic-modified porous nanoceria as a multifunctional nanotherapeutic platform for the treatment of osteoarthritis. This “push-and-pull” strategy enables simultaneous delivery of an anti-inflammatory drug and scavenging of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and cell-free DNA (cfDNA). Their study demonstrates that this dual-action approach not only promotes chondrocyte regeneration but also reprograms macrophages toward an anti-inflammatory phenotype, ultimately contributing to cartilage repair in osteoarthritic joints.

This important research is featured as the Cover in the August 2025 issue of ACS NANO.
